Dear Friends of Anawim,
The Anawim Center is a place that seeks to honor the Native American Indian elders, to provide a safe haven for the
Native American Indian children, to work for justice for all Indians, to seek health and wholeness, and a place for the
Native American Indians to pray and explore their spirituality. Anawim provides a place for the Native American
Indians in the Chicago area to meet regarding their concerns and discuss matters important to the Indian
community. The center is a non-profit organization 501(c)(3) operated under the auspices of the Catholic
Archdiocese of Chicago.

As part of the 25th anniversary of its founding, the center plans to celebrate with a Native American celebration,
commonly referred to as a Powwow. It is a way of meeting together to renew old friendships and establish new
ones. It provides for a way the Indian youth learn and practice some of their honored traditions. It is a time when
non-Indians can experience some of the traditions, music and dance, arts and crafts of the Native American Indian
people. It is an event that supports the ongoing efforts of the Anawim Center to continue its service to the Native
American Indian community in the Chicago Metropolitan area.

The setup and establishment of a Powwow does require funding. I am writing to inquire whether you would
consider a donation to the Anawim Center. This donation would assist us in our mission to provide part of the funds
needed to defray the cost of conducting this social and cultural event. Donations "in kind" are welcome.

Please feel free to call me with any questions.

Sincerely,
